Helicopter is now considered to be one of the most versatile aerial vehicles. The role of the helicopters is becoming more and more important and meaningful day by day. It is believed that the Helicopter aviation industry has a lot of scope to grow from about 10% to 15% in India. The demand of the helicopter pilots has also increased considerably.

There aren’t many helicopter pilot training schools in India. But the increasing demand of the helicopter pilots in India has resulted into the planning of setting up a large number of Helicopter pilot training schools in various parts of India. Currently one of the best Helicopter Pilot’s Training Institute which is present in India is the Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd.

The Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd which is based in Bangalore initiated the helicopter pilot training school
called the HAL Rotary Wing Academy. This institute was started in the year 2000. This helicopter pilot
training institute has been approved by the DCGA or the Director General of Civil Aviation.

The course structure includes a perfect balance between theoretical as well as the practical training. Various classes are conducted on the ground subjects on a regular basis. As far as the practical training is concerned the candidates get proper training in flying helicopters with trained instructors.

On successfully completion and passing of both theoretical as well as the practical exams, the candidate is given either a CPHL or a PHPL depending on the course taken. The CPHL is the commercial pilot’s License on Helicopter whereas the PHPL is nothing but the private pilot License in Helicopter.
